Dave Howard, Client Director
A co-founder of Platform Action, Dave has 30+ years’ consulting and research experience, helping various UK and international clients improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their customer- facing operations and self-serve capabilities, mainly in financial services. He has worked with a number of investment platforms in various roles such as IT Director, Programme Director and Customer Experience Specialist. Dave has a science background, a curious nature and a talent for managing complexity and direction setting at all levels of a client organisation. Dave believes “Platform development and deployment is in its infancy, often placing ‘perceived’ functionality requirements ahead of user experience. We take a different approach”.
Dave lives in Bath and is married with three grown-up children and a long-suffering wife who describes herself as a ‘cycling widow’.
Richard Budnyj, Client Director
Richard is a co-founder of Platform Action with nearly 30 years’ experience in financial services. Initially in sales, Richard has worked in a number of senior roles in Ops, Marketing and Change. He’s had a successful consulting career, contributing to the success of a number of investment platforms over the last 15 years, with a focus on start-ups. Richard is most at home next to a white board, facilitating design workshops and managing through to delivery of business benefit. Richard says “Platforms should be simple to build and easy to use. Only our fear adds complexity which then drives costs. Providers who are brave will be the profitable market leaders down the road”.
When not watching his beloved Derby County play, Richard can be found playing tennis or planning his next trip. Richard lives in Hampshire with his wife and three boys.
Rob Duncan, Head of Programme and Methodology
Rob has 12+ years’ experience managing programmes in Financial Services. He is a driven manager of change who strives to get the best out of people and organisations. Rob swiftly assimilates within an organisation and helps effect wider change than the immediate programme. His management and business focus to change is balanced with a detailed understanding of all stages of application development through the delivery lifecycle. He is experienced in managing multi-disciplined teams across multiple continents and methodologies, preferably using Agile. Rob is the driving force in the development of the methodologies and toolsets we use today.
Mike Simpson, Client Coach
An Associate Director of Platform Action, Mike was involved in designing and developing our business model and one of its key differentiators – the coached delivery of client organisational re-design and the nudged cultural change essential for any major technology investment to fully deliver on its promise. Mike has 30 years’ coaching and consulting experience with large clients across a range of industry sectors, including Financial Services, Retail, Healthcare, Automotive, Consulting and Construction. Working at all levels – from ‘shop floor’ to board – Mike has a positively engaging, but challenging style, working alongside client management teams as they grapple with their strategic choices, make considered decisions and move on to deliver on these strategic imperatives efficiently and effectively. Mike also drives a powerful, rolling feedback loop on current projects back into the Platform Action team ensuring we continue to listen and respond to our clients’ programme delivery challenges. He is the driver behind our philosophy of delivering sustainable change and leaving our clients enabled from each and every assignment.
Sam Hall, Technical Solutions Analyst
Sam has 10+ years’ experience with pensions and investment wrap platforms, working on several major integrations and migrations along the way. In between, he found time to circumnavigate the globe in a racing yacht. Sam’s background was originally in operations, but he quickly moved onto project and business analysis work, with an increasingly technical focus. He has experience throughout the project and development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and documentation through to test, defect resolution, implementation and post-implementation support. Sam is technically adept and experienced in working on complex multi-supplier platforms with many interfaces.
Matt Roblin, Technical Architect
Matt has worked in the technical areas of financial services for over 12 years, and for some of the forerunners in the platform market. Coming from an IT operations background, Matt has been through many significant implementations and is passionate about implementing systems that are not only fit-for-purpose, but ensuring the platform is robustly maintained and monitored. He specialises in architecting solutions, their complementary support systems and is experienced in TOGAF, ITIL, PRINCE2 and MSITP.
Matt Budnyj, Technical Analyst
Matt has over 6 years’ experience in the financial services industry. Starting out in insurance sales and then claims, Matt’s passion for quality service delivery has transitioned ‘behind the scenes’ to IT and Change Delivery. On his client assignments to date, he has developed broad experience across a variety of IT service management functions. Matt is always up for a challenge and continuously looks to improve. He is certified in ITIL IT Service Management and AgilePM project management.
